Notes:
There is a narrow zone in between the coast and ocean which is revealed at low tide. The intertidal region is characterized by breaking waves and an environment exposed to the air for part of the day (underwater the rest of the day). Creatures who live here include mollusks, sea weed, urchins, sea cucumbers and small fish. This is an example from a rocky Pacific coast.
