Oregon Caves - Underground
Oregon Caves National Monument is located in the mountains of western Oregon. We wanted to highlight this land biome because you are so used to hearing about places to live on the surface. Guess what? There is a wide variety of animals that live below ground. Some only stay there part time such as bats or animals that make a cave their home. Other organisms live their entire lives beneath the surface. You won't find great forests, but you will find microorganisms that don't require light to survive. Since there are small creatures, you may also find larger organisms such as spiders or fish that feed on them. Those animals are often blind and use other senses to get around in the total darkness.
